Everything RV Chess does
One page listing the whole tool — the game review, the analysis board, and the smaller things that make either one quicker to use.
Game review
- Full-game Stockfish 18 review — every move scored against the engine's own choice. What a review includes.
- Move classification — brilliant, only move, best, excellent, good, inaccuracy, mistake and blunder, on published thresholds. Brilliant has an exact test rather than a vibe.
- Accuracy and performance rating per player — calculated here, and usable as a standalone accuracy checker.
- Evaluation bar and clickable graph — jump to the swing instead of hunting for it. Arrow keys step the game; the graph is keyboard-reachable too.
- Best lines you can walk into — click any move in the engine's continuation to see the position it leads to, then drop back into the game.
- Play from any position — make your own move on the board mid-review and the engine evaluates it live.
Analysis board
- Sandbox — set up any position by dragging pieces already on the board or in from the tray, or by pasting a FEN, then play both sides with Stockfish evaluating as you go.
- Best-move arrows — the top one, two or three engine choices drawn on the board, or none if you would rather think first.
- The same move controls as game review — jump to the start or end, step with the buttons or arrow keys, and flip the board from the shared control row.
Getting games in
- The rv shortcut — type rv in front of
chess.comin any game address and the review opens directly. How it works. - Link import — Chess.com live, daily, computer and master-archive links, and every Lichess address form.
- PGN paste — a game from any site at all.
- Username search — look up a Chess.com username and pick from recent games, which is the easy route when the game was played on your phone.
Around the review
- Guess the Elo — a five-round game built from real rated games, including eligible games from your own local review history, with a score based on how close each estimate is.
- Saved reviews — finished reviews stay in your browser, so reopening one is instant and does not re-run the engine. Clearing them is one button.
- Shareable position cards — turn a moment from a game into an image with the board, the move and its label on it.
- Player cards — names, ratings and result read from the game itself.
- Engine depth and build — trade speed against strength, on a machine as slow or fast as the one you happen to be using.
- Move sounds and a board that works on a phone — including swipe to step.
What it deliberately does not do
There are no accounts and no paywall, because Stockfish 18 runs inside your browser tab as WebAssembly rather than on a server. Reviews remain on your machine by default. You can separately opt in to contribute a de-identified game for product research, see exactly what is removed, and delete your contributions. Local analysis does not depend on that option — which is also why there is no daily limit to hit.
