The RV Chess extension for Firefox

A Free Review button sitting next to Chess.com’s own, and the same thing from the toolbar. One click opens the whole game in a full Stockfish 18 review.

What it adds

  • A green Free Review button beside the Game Review button on a Chess.com game page, so the review is one click from where the game already is.
  • A toolbar button that does the same thing, for when the page's own buttons are not where you are looking.
  • Live, daily, computer and archived games — the same set the rv link trick covers.

What happens when you click it

The game opens here in a new tab and the review starts on its own. Stockfish 18 runs as WebAssembly inside that tab, so there is no account to make, no Premium membership, and no daily limit to hit. You get accuracy and a performance rating for both sides, every move labelled on published thresholds, the engine's own move in each position, and a graph you can click to reach the moment the game turned.

What it asks for

One permission: access to pages on chess.com, which is what lets it read the game address and put the button on the page. The extension collects nothing and stores nothing of its own. It is released under the GNU General Public Licence v3.0, and it is not affiliated with Chess.com or Mozilla.

You do not need it

The extension is a shortcut, not a requirement. Typing rv in front of chess.com in any game address — www.rvchess.com/game/live/12345678 — opens the same review, in any browser. So does pasting the link, the PGN, or a Lichess game into the box on the home page.

Other browsers

Firefox is the only browser the extension is published for at the moment. On Chrome, Safari, Edge or a phone, use the rv address or paste the link — nothing about the review itself changes.
