RV Chess in ChatGPT
Review a game on the RV Chess board inside ChatGPT, then ask about any move in plain words. Stockfish supplies the evidence; ChatGPT explains it.

The plugin is not yet listed in the ChatGPT app directory, so it cannot be installed from there. This page will say how to add it once it is. Until then, the same review runs here on rvchess.com.
What it does
Paste a Chess.com or Lichess game link, or a PGN, and ask ChatGPT to review it. The RV Chess board opens in the conversation and runs the same review as this site: accuracy for each side, every move labelled from brilliant to blunder, and the engine's line in each position. It uses the lighter Stockfish 18 Lite build on one thread, and takes games of up to 80 moves. When the scan finishes, the results go to ChatGPT, which explains them.
Click a move and the conversation knows which position you are looking at. You can also play moves on the board to explore a line and ask about that instead.
Questions it can answer
- "Why was that a mistake?" Checks the selected move with the same verifier as the review page, and returns its verdict and the line that proves it.
- "What's White's plan?" Searches the position and gives ChatGPT the evaluation and the legal continuations. The plan is ChatGPT's reading of those lines; Stockfish gives moves, not words.
- "Why is Rd1 better than Ra2?" Searches the candidates together from the same position at the same depth, so the scores are directly comparable.
- "What if the rook on a1 were on d1?" Searches the position as it is and with the piece moved, and shows the edited board. This is labelled a hypothetical, not a move, and ChatGPT will ask which rook if two could be meant.
Where the engine runs
As on this site, Stockfish runs in your browser, inside the board ChatGPT shows. The plugin's server only imports the game and serves the board; there is no second engine and no separate set of rules. The labels follow the published classification thresholds.
What ChatGPT sees
The game, including its PGN headers such as player names and ratings, the review results and the position you have selected are sent to the conversation, because that is what ChatGPT needs to explain them. The plugin only fetches the public game you link; it cannot read your Chess.com or Lichess account. See the privacy policy for the rest.
